Duties and Interests:
As a museum specialist I provide research support for Dr. Scott Miller. My primary duties are to image and dissect Geometridae: Lepidoptera type specimens from the Papua New Guinea region at The Natural History Museum in London. My duties include locating and positively identifying the type specimens in the collections; examining specimens and conducting dissections; micro-dissection and specialized mounting of specimens for microscopic analysis; selection and sampling of specimens for DNA analysis; microphotography of specimens using digital imaging equipment; coordination with other specialists and conducting literature searches and library research. I am also in charge of recording specimen data in a Microsoft Access database.
