The main focus of my work is to understand the diversity and evolution of ants in the Neotropics, in the taxonomic and phylogenetic aspects.
Currently, I’m studying the ant subfamilies Ectatomminae and Heteroponerinae, which includes 7 genera and are distributed around the world. Using morphological characteristics of individuals and phylogenomic molecular data (UCE's), my goal is to understand the phylogenetic relationships between species and genera of Ecta-heteromorph ants and use phylogenies to understand the evolutionary and biogeographic histories of the studied lineages. I'm also interested in discovering and describing new species and improving the classification of those groups.
