The USNM Lepidoptera Immature Stages collection is perhaps the largest in the world. It includes larvae and pupae of nearly every family, and is the result of extensive rearing efforts combined with the accession of voucher material received by USDA-Systematic Entomology Laboratory and Smithsonian Institution staff for identifications. It is stored in 70% ethanol in a double vial system to prevent evaporation.

The following list is organized by subfamily and alphabetical by genus and species. The information includes: country and state (specific locality data were not captured), number of specimens in the vial, and other comments, including host, when available. Links are provided to the other lists where appropriate.
